About Us
What Makes Mission Hammocks Different?
Mission Hammocks is committed to helping people achieve their goals and dreams. All of our hammocks are made in a workshop staffed with people who have various disabilities in Nicaragua. These people would otherwise have trouble finding good work, and in the workshop they receive a fair salary and a great working environment. We're Our goal is to make sure that the 30+ individuals that work in the workshop that are blind, deaf, and have physical disabilities will be able to live the lives they deserve.
Over 10% of people in Nicaragua have some sort of disability, making it very hard on themselves and their families to help them achieve their goals and dreams. We work with a local special education school to take these wonderful people in to help give them valuable life skills.
Our hammocks and hammock chairs are 100% handmade with Manila Cotton, and all of the materials are sourced in Central America. These double and king size hammocks are artfully crafted using bright colors and unique designs. The hammock chairs are versatile enough for use both indoors and outdoors. Each hammock takes between 2-4 days to make from start to finish, and when finished goes through a rigorous quality control check. You can be sure that these are some of the finest hammocks available anywhere in the world.
When you place an order with us, we make a hammock, hammock chair, and baby furniture just for you with love from our workshop. You can be assured that you're getting a one of a kind piece of art that's made by one of our amazing workers.
Our workshop is located in Granada, Nicaragua and we also have a sales office in the United States. The workshop has been open for nearly 5 years and has helped dozens of people earn a livable wage and enhance their skills personally and professionally.
